The Artist’s Statement Picture Show in collaboration with Matteawan Gallery
are proud to present a program of recent videos by Marko Mäetamm
Marko Mäetamm: Stories of a Man Who Is Living in the Woods
Saturday, May 3, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Beacon Project Space, 464 Main Street (behind Matteawan Gallery), Beacon, New York
A keen observer of domestic life, Mäetamm tells stories—through relatively simple visuals and text often
infused with dark humor—that locate the universal in the personal. He explores the relationships between
himself and his family, family and society, and the public and the private. The program includes several recent
videos that offer an almost voyeuristic look at a home life modulated by the strange and absurd.
Mäetamm is a multimedia artist who shows his work internationally. His work is featured in the official programming
for the 2014 NADA Art Fair. In 2007, Mäetamm’s “Loser’s Paradise” exhibition represented his country at the Estonian
Pavilion for the 52nd Venice Bienniale. His work has been shown with Gallery Temnikova & Kasela at the NADA
art fair; at Nettie Horn gallery in London, UK; the Contemporary Art Centre in Rekalde, Bilbao, Spain, and many others.
Mäetamm lives and works mostly in Tallinn, Estonia.
